Warlock

Warlock 2/5

The first time seeing Warlocks cover I knew I was in for something dungeon related.

Upon starting up the game I was greeted by a spooky start screen which set a nice tone for the game. When I entered the game I found myself in a graveyard setting complete with low light and gloomy weather. Playing as a druid bent on the revenge of a powerful warlock, you must gather and collect 6 ancient runestones. While playing you will encounter wolves, dogs, gargoyles and of coarse the undead. After the graveyard I soon found myself in castles and the like. With very little variations. So if you expecting castlevania I'm sorry to disappoint you.

Having access to an orb with which you can send in a direction of your choosing whilst holding the button. Throwing magic from your hand is another trick up the druids sleeve, however both are bothersome and very hard to control and make go where you want. The animation for some odd reason for the magic you throw out your hand makes your character crouch down. Using the orb leaves u a sitting duck and it often frustration to get it to go where you need it.

The level design is poor and the game is very unforgiving. While there is a sort of a save feature all items collected will be lost. The monsters appear and spawn at anytime so you will be ambushed a lot.

If I must say something good about this game it would be the interesting way in which you lose life points. Your are given a healthy looking face and as you take damage the skin and flesh is torn from it until its just a skull meaning you dead. I also thought the animation for the zombies was not too bad and they reacted in a satisfying way when shot.
This game could have been pretty good had the controls and terrible level designs not been so bad.

This is so not castlevania

Spooky scenery...... Probably the best part about the game.

The mysterious warlock pops up through the game . Not a very impressive looking boss
